Reliable Metocean Solutions for Offshore Industries
Comprehensive Solutions for Every Stage of Operations
1
VOOW (Vortex Offshore Operational Window)
Through Big Data analysis and advanced statistical methods, VOOW estimates the number of operational windows (up time) for each month of the year. Metocean variables such as wind, waves, and currents are combined with vessel operational limits to generate monthly estimates of operational windows. VOOW enhances competitiveness in bidding processes, improves asset allocation, and assists in long-term planning and analyses
2
SOW (Seasonal Operational Window)
While VOOW considers climatological averages in its analyses, SOW analyzes metoceanographic trends for the coming months. SOW takes into account intra-annual variability, providing greater accuracy in the medium term. For example, during El Niño years, wave directions may change. Through climate indices and typical patterns, SOW updates operational windows over a 3 to 6 month horizon.
3
WONS (Weather Operational Nowcast System)
WONS is a wind, wave and current forecast for day-to-day operations.
WONS is a hyper-local intelligent forecast system with a horizon of up to 15 days. It provides all the meteorological and oceanographic information required by the operations team to make daily decisions. Vortex Mundus has developed a system based on machine learning that increases the accuracy of forecasts by up to 20%.
The Operations Monitoring service can be contracted together with WONS
At Vortex Mundus, we provide reliable metocean solutions that enhance the operational success of offshore industries. Our expert team delivers comprehensive weather forecasting and oceanographic services, ensuring your projects are both efficient and safe. Partner with us for excellence in marine data analysis.

EVA: Extreme Value Analysis
Extreme value analysis quantifies rare events of wave, wind, and current magnitude and direction. This statistical analysis calculates the return period of variables considering 10, 50, and 100 years. It is used in anchoring projects, fatigue calculations, and structural stress analysis.
5
EVA: Multiparameter
Multiparameter extreme analysis considers the joint occurrence of metoceanographic variables. Through this analysis, it is possible to obtain more precise and less conservative information to be considered in project calculations.
6
Meteocean - Physical Environment
Characterization of metoceanographic variables such as wind, waves, and currents for offshore operations. Provides information on climate, wind, waves, and currents of a specific region through a report. Also describes the processes at work in the area, as well as temporal and/or spatial variability.
7
Operations Monitoring
This is a tailor-made service from Vortex Mundus that supports daily operations. It includes a dedicated meteorologist/oceanographer for:
Analysis of available forecasts; analysis and comparison of in-situ metoceanographic data; assessment of storm formation; daily meteorological meetings with vessels; evaluation of critical operations; 24/7 on-call availability (phone and video conference)
